Around 60 armed members of the Jana Samhati Samiti (JSS), led by Santu Larma, are reportedly stationed in Jag Para, within Chengi Union of Panchhari Upazila in Khagrachhari District, Bangladesh, according to local sources. Residents are increasingly concerned about the group’s activities and alleged pressure on villagers.

According to local sources, at around 7 p.m. on October 7, an armed group entered the area toward Pujgang Youth Nash Para and Raj Kumar Para from the northern side of Borkana Para and Napita Para in Chengi Union. The group reportedly fired blank shots along the way, causing fear among residents of nearby villages.

On the evening of October 8, around 60 armed members of the JSS faction supporting Santu Larma reportedly arrived in Jag Para and established a base there, local residents said. Sources identified a local man from Baghaichhari, Sujan Chakma, as the group’s leader.

According to the report, Sujan Chakma was previously linked to the killing of Juddha Chakma, a commander of the JSS faction led by M.N. Larma, who was reportedly killed while asleep. Sujan Chakma later joined the JSS faction led by Santu Larma, the report said. These allegations have not been independently verified.

Local sources also alleged that on the morning of October 9, villagers in Jag Para were ordered to prepare food for the armed group. Although the group reportedly consisted of around 50 to 60 members, villagers were allegedly asked to arrange food for 100 people.

The latest information indicates that the armed group is reportedly stationed at locations known as “Hijing,” “Muro,” and “Nuyo Hiyong” in the main village area of Jag Para.
