In a historic event in Bangladesh, Prime Minister Tarique Rahman reportedly travelled from Dhaka to Saidpur aboard a C-295 transport aircraft operated by the Bangladesh Army’s Aviation Wing. The aircraft was flown by pilots from the Bangladesh Army.
Normally, aircraft and pilots from the Bangladesh Air Force are responsible for transporting the prime minister during official trips. However, the use of the Army’s own aircraft and pilots for this journey can be regarded as a significant development demonstrating the operational capabilities of the Army’s Aviation Wing.
Prime Minister Tarique Rahman departed from Tejgaon Airport in Dhaka at 9:00 a.m. on October 20 and arrived at Saidpur Airport in Nilphamari District at 9:50 a.m. He was scheduled to visit religious festival venues in the Rangpur, Rajshahi and Chittagong regions during the Durga Puja celebrations.
Transporting the head of government using the Army’s own aircraft and pilots marks an important milestone for the Bangladesh Army’s Aviation Wing, demonstrating its professional competence, operational capability and ability to fulfil its responsibilities.
