Bangladeshi technology company AUTODRIVE has developed a prototype device incorporating new technology for the artillery unit of the Bangladesh Army, according to information published in Bengali.
The initial development work on the device has been completed, and it is reportedly ready for field testing. However, no information confirming the test results or its practical operational capabilities has been made available so far.
Detailed technical information about the project has not been disclosed due to defence-related confidentiality. Images released publicly show an optical sight, crosshairs and an electronic control unit. Based on these components, the device is believed to be an integrated optical-electronic system that may be used for precision artillery aiming and measuring direction and angles.
The prototype was developed at AUTODRIVE’s research laboratory by young researchers Abul Bashar Raj and Naim Islam Shanto. Field tests will be conducted to further assess the device’s accuracy and practical performance.
Developing defence-related equipment using domestic technology and the expertise of young researchers represents an important effort toward advancing Bangladesh’s indigenous defence technology capabilities. However, the device’s final performance and its potential deployment by the army remain dependent on field-test results and approval from the relevant authorities.
