The Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) has stepped up security and surveillance along the Naikhongchhari border in Bandarban District, Bangladesh, amid ongoing clashes between the Arakan Army (AA) and the Myanmar military in Rakhine State.

To prevent illegal border crossings and smuggling, as well as to monitor movements along the border, personnel from BGB Battalions 34 and 11 have been deployed in increased numbers, with security measures maintained at the highest alert level.

In addition, drones and thermal imaging devices are being used to conduct round-the-clock surveillance in the remote and rugged mountainous border areas. Border patrols and security measures have also been intensified.

At least 10 locations between border pillars 35 and 54 have been identified as high-risk areas for smuggling. These locations include Boishphari, Tumbru, Jamchhari, Phultali, Lebuchhari and Painchhari.

Bangladesh has intensified border surveillance to prevent potential illegal crossings and security threats arising from the ongoing fighting in Rakhine State.
