A large quantity of weapons, ammunition, drone bombs and other military equipment was seized during special operations jointly conducted by the Assam Rifles, local military units and police in Churachandpur and Tengnoupal districts of Manipur, India.
During area-clearance operations in the Sekhen area of Churachandpur District on August 17 and 18, the joint forces seized a locally made .22 mm firearm, a factory-made 12-bore shotgun, an MCG9 Mk 2 9 mm firearm, two locally made 9 mm pistols, various types of ammunition and military protective equipment.
In addition, on August 20, a joint operation with the Moreh Police was conducted near BP 73 along the Myanmar-India border in the Ch Tengnoupal area. The operation led to the seizure of an M15 rifle, an MA G3 rifle, five drone bombs, five IEDs, a tear-gas launcher and hand grenades.
The seized weapons and military equipment were handed over to the relevant police stations, and further legal action is being taken in accordance with the law.
Security forces are continuing area-clearance and surveillance operations to maintain stability and security in Manipur and along the Myanmar-India border.
