Reconnaissance flights by Myanmar military aircraft have reportedly continued for several consecutive days along the Myanmar–China border, including around Laiza, the headquarters of the KIO/KIA in Kachin State, raising concerns over possible airstrikes in the area.

On September 22, the KIO/KIA issued a warning that there could be a risk of airstrikes in areas under its control, including Laiza. Residents were urged to avoid gatherings, refrain from unnecessary travel, and make preparations at home for protection against possible air attacks.

The following day, September 23, two reconnaissance flights by Myanmar military aircraft were reportedly observed along the border near Laiza. Shortly afterward, an aircraft was also reportedly seen flying on the Chinese side of the border, according to a Kachin news source.

On September 24, another Myanmar military reconnaissance aircraft was reportedly seen flying near Laiza, according to a Kachin military source. The source said that gunfire heard during the period was warning fire from the Chinese side into the border area.

Meanwhile, reports also emerged that the Myanmar military carried out an airstrike in the Hpakant area at around 3:30 p.m. today, using two aircraft—a fighter jet and a Y-12 aircraft. Kachin News Group reported that while airstrikes were reported in Hpakant, aircraft were also seen flying over the Laiza area.

At present, continued reconnaissance flights near Laiza, China's increasing attention and response to developments along the Myanmar–China border, and advance warnings issued by the KIO/KIA regarding possible air attacks have heightened concerns among local residents.
