The Myanmar military reportedly carried out a series of airstrikes on several locations in Thandwe Township, including the coastal town of Ngapali, on Thursday afternoon, according to local residents.
The airstrikes reportedly began shortly after 1:00 p.m. on 23 July, when multiple fighter jets bombed areas including Ngapali, Linthar Ward, and Maung Shwe Lay.
"The attacks started at around 1:00 p.m. with five fighter jets, and they were still ongoing at the time of reporting," a resident from the Ngapali area told local media.
The latest strikes follow a reported air raid on 19 July, when the Myanmar military allegedly bombed Thandwe, injuring four civilians.
On the same day, another reported airstrike targeted Ma-ei Town in Taungup Township, where five civilians were reportedly killed and 14 others injured, including a Buddhist monk and several children.
Local sources say the military has continued to carry out frequent airstrikes against towns and villages across Arakan State, contributing to an increasing number of civilian deaths, injuries, and displacement.
The report also alleges that, as fighting continues on the Kyaukphyu front against the Arakan Army (AA), the Myanmar military has intensified attacks on transportation infrastructure, including roads and bridges connecting Kyaukphyu Township with surrounding areas, in an apparent effort to disrupt movement and logistics.
