RSO Reportedly Abducts and Kills an ARSA Member at Cox's Bazar Refugee Camp

An alleged conflict between Islamist militant groups inside the Zintuli Muslim refugee camp in Ukhiya Upazila, Cox's Bazar District, Bangladesh, reportedly resulted in the abduction and killing of a member of the Arakan Rohingya Salvation Army (ARSA) by the Rohingya Solidarity Organisation (RSO).

The victim was identified as Abdu Hafiz, 25, son of Nuruzzuha, a resident of Block H-8 in Camp 15 of the Zintuli Muslim refugee camp. According to reports, he was abducted and later killed by members of the RSO.

Sources said the ARSA member had been abducted by the RSO on June 23. Following his killing, his body was reportedly recovered on July 5 from a toilet at the residence of Jebaru, the official in charge of Camp 15.

The deceased, Abdu Hafiz, was originally from Nurullah Village in southern Maungdaw Township, Arakan. According to sources, he had been recruiting members at the Jadimura refugee camp in Teknaf Upazila for operations intended to infiltrate Maungdaw Township, and had returned to visit his parents when he was abducted.

In recent months, Islamist armed militant groups operating inside refugee camps in Bangladesh have reportedly continued to engage in kidnappings, killings, and other violent activities. Deadly clashes and revenge killings between rival groups have also become increasingly frequent, contributing to escalating insecurity inside the camps.

Sources further claim that these militant groups are coordinating with Myanmar's military junta and making preparations for cross-border incursions into the Arakan region to carry out militant operations. These claims have not been independently verified.
