Four civilians were killed and two others injured after Myanmar's military junta carried out an airstrike near Shwe Hlay Village in Thandwe Township, Rakhine State, on July 31, according to local sources.
The attack reportedly took place between 2:57 p.m. and around 3:00 p.m. when a junta fighter jet dropped two 300-pound bombs and one 500-pound bomb near the village.
The airstrike left four local civilians dead, while two others sustained injuries.
In addition to the casualties, two shops, five houses, two private vehicles, and two motorcycles were damaged or destroyed by the explosions, local residents said.
Thandwe Township has experienced repeated airstrikes in recent weeks. On July 19, the junta reportedly launched at least five aerial attacks on several urban wards in the town, injuring four civilians and causing extensive damage to residential buildings.
According to available information, Myanmar junta airstrikes carried out across Rakhine State between July 19 and July 31 have killed at least nine civilians and injured no fewer than 38 others.
