Three young girls were worshipped as symbolic representations of Goddess Durga on Maha Ashtami, the eighth day of the autumn Durga Puja festival, in Chittagong, Bangladesh, according to local reports.

The worship ceremony was held at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, October 19, at the Radhagobinda and Shantaneswari Matri Mandir temples in Chittagong. Following traditional religious scriptures and rituals, the girls were seated on ceremonial platforms and worshipped in the form of goddesses.

According to Hindu beliefs, Kumari Puja is a religious ritual that symbolizes feminine power and the primordial energy of creation. Devotees attending the ceremony bowed before the girls and offered their respects, praying for blessings, prosperity, and well-being for themselves and their families.

This year's Kumari Puja featured six-year-old Radheshree Dutta Brinda, 11-year-old Rittika Dash, and seven-year-old Adishree Kar.

In addition to Kumari Puja, temples across Chittagong also held prescribed worship rituals and floral offerings to Goddess Durga on Maha Ashtami. Devotees offered flowers, bel leaves, and other religious offerings while praying for the goddess's blessings.

Kumari Puja is an important religious ritual during the Durga Puja festival, emphasizing feminine power and the divine presence represented by the goddess.
