Members of the Arakan Army (AA)’s Mee Nga Gar Military Region have reportedly assisted local farmers in Mine Yu 105-Mile, located in the Brotherhood Alliance administration area of Muse Township, who were facing difficulties in rice cultivation.
Due to financial difficulties, some local farmers were unable to hire agricultural workers and were also unable to cultivate rice by themselves. Since June 21, AA members from the Mee Ngar Gnar Military Region have been helping with farming activities, and they have so far assisted in cultivating around six acres of farmland.
A local farmer said that because daily wage labor costs for agricultural work have become high, farmers facing financial difficulties have had to borrow money from others in order to continue rice cultivation.
It is reported that farmers who cannot afford the costs are grateful for the assistance provided by AA members who came to help them.
In the area, farmers with sufficient financial resources usually hire daily wage workers for rice planting. However, some farmers facing financial difficulties have been relying on family members, relatives, and mutual support systems to take turns helping each other with farming activities.
Farmers in the alliance administration area who are experiencing difficulties with rice cultivation during this year’s planting season can contact the Alliance Administration Committee office to request assistance, according to local authorities.
