Initial reports indicate that the coup military launched airstrikes using jet fighters and a Y-12 aircraft today (July 2) at around 2:00 PM on Kyein Chaung village and its surroundings in Maungdaw Township, Arakan.
A local resident stated that a fleet of aircraft was used to drop more than 10 bombs on the vicinity of Kyein Chaung village, located near the Arakan-Bangladesh border, and near the Border Guard Police Sub-Division No. 7 (NaKhaKha 7) headquarters.
The situation regarding the bombing is still being investigated.
Kyein Chaung village is a large, densely populated village situated near the Taungpyo Letwe junction in northern Maungdaw Township.
Yesterday, on July 1, the coup military also used a fleet of jet fighters and a Y-12 to drop more than 10 bombs around areas such as the Maungdaw town entrance arch, 3-Mile, and NaKhaKha 5.
In recent days, it is learned that the military junta has been launching daily, consecutive airstrikes using fleets of aircraft on the Bangladesh border areas, specifically Buthidaung Township and Maungdaw Township.
Yesterday, the coup military also bombed the vicinity of the Military Operations Command No. 15 (SaKaKha 15) headquarters and Muslim villages in Buthidaung Township, leaving at least 3 Muslims injured.
Similarly, on June 24, an airstrike was carried out near the former Border Ethnic Youth Development School in Maungdaw town, injuring two women.
