A civilian injured in a Myanmar military airstrike on Kyintali town and Yekyaw village in Gwa Township, Rakhine State, has died, raising concerns over the rising toll of recent aerial attacks, local sources said.
The victim was identified as U Wera Min, 45, from Yekyaw village. He was among those injured in the June 26 airstrike carried out by a Myanmar military jet fighter.
According to reports, the aircraft dropped one 500-pound bomb on a monastery in Yekyaw village, one 300-pound bomb on a local school, and two 500-pound bombs on Ward No. 2 in Kyintali town at around 3:00 PM.
Six civilians were injured in the attack, including U Wera Min, who later died at approximately 4:45 PM while receiving medical treatment due to severe injuries. The remaining five injured victims are reported to be in serious condition and are undergoing emergency care.
Local sources said the airstrikes caused significant damage to civilian infrastructure, including religious buildings, educational facilities, and residential areas.
The latest incident adds to a series of recent aerial attacks in the region, where civilians continue to bear the brunt of ongoing military operations.
